After last week's 90s Pop Music playlist , I decided to get back to my real roots and create a playlist with a collection of some of the best rock songs of the late 90s. This playlist has some of my favorite artists from the 90s, and these bands are the reason I first became interested in music in general. I tried to go with more of these band's more popular and familiar songs but I plan on creating a few more of these playlists, where I dig a little deeper into the genre. My favorite from this playlist has to be "Push" by Matchbox Twenty, one of the best songs of any genre from the 90s.

Oh how I love the Wallflowers. Saw them last summer with Counting Crows and was not disappointed. Post a Comment. In less than a month, I'm going to be a father for the second time.

The band has gone through a number of personnel changes but has remained centered on Dylan. After releasing their eponymous debut album in , the Wallflowers released what would become their best-known and highest-selling album, Bringing Down the Horse in , which featured the songs " One Headlight " and " 6th Avenue Heartache ". They went on to release an additional three albums before going on hiatus. In , the Wallflowers reunited to release their sixth studio album, Glad All Over. Dylan and Miller had been in several bands together in high school but went their separate ways upon graduation. Dylan had moved to New York City to go to art school while Miller had started his own band called the 45's. After the 45's broke up in , Miller regained contact with Dylan and they began forming a new band called the Apples. Barrie Maguire, who was in the 45's with Miller, joined the band as their bass player.
Collected features 14 classic tracks taken from their albums, plus two previously unreleased recordings. Mixing introspective singer-songwriter sensibilities with a commitment to genuine Roots Rock, The Wallflowers sold more than eight million copies of their catalog, topped the Billboard charts, scored a multiplatinum album, several Modern Rock hits, two Grammyr awards and a legion of fans. Collected: is the definitive look at a critically-acclaimed favorite of the past decade, whose tales of disillusionment and perseverance were wrapped in a sound both gritty and polished, melancholy and aggressive.
