Oscar- and Grammy-winning duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez returned to write seven original songs for the Scandinavian-inspired sequel. You can praise or blame them for the tunes being stuck in your head or sung repeatedly by the little kids in your life. Queen Anna, indeed.
15. ‘Frozen Heart’ (‘Frozen’)
1. “The Next Right Thing”
You could say Frozen 2 is kind of a big deal. Just like the first Frozen. The good news is the Frozen II songs are, on the whole, pretty good!
2. “Show Yourself”
Both Frozen and Frozen 2 are full of songs that are hard to forget. From silly numbers sung by a talking snowman to power ballads, there is a wide range of songs from the Frozen franchise. While everyone has their favorites, there are generally some of the songs from these films that are seen as better than others. It seems to promote a message of love being used to change someone into a better person, and this take on love is problematic, to say the least. The rest of the songs on this list are a little longer and more substantial which is why they are higher up on the list. It sets the tone for the rest of the movie and has a good deal of foreshadowing and plot in it. At first, this song really was sweet and charming. While the original version might not be the best, Kacey Musgraves's version of the song for the soundtrack is really beautiful with just the right amount of a folk edge.
For us, it was a case of actively offering to drive places just to belt out the big tracks in the solitude of the car. Just us? Frozen 2 followed in bringing with it some potential contenders like Into the Unknown as Elsa hears a voice and Show Yourself, though it was nearly cut. The Frozen movies bring plenty to the table, great storytelling, fantasy and fairytale magic and humour as well as stunning, moving songs. But Frozen really grabbed us — to the point parents were tearing their hair at the thought of playing Let It Go for their kids one more time.
